Notennoù
Patrom:Controversial Patrom:Mythological The dates of the Ring family are all approximate but the relationship between the Alpins (Scotian Ulvings) and the Scandinavian Rings are clearly linked through the Pictish Agathyrsian family. Lagertha has long been overlooked for her important role in establishing/expanding the Nordic Westfold kingdom along the east coast of Scotland, prior to the ascension of her sons to the thrones of the Dalriad, and for her support of her ex-husband's raiding in Frankland where he planted the political seeds of Normandy.
It is interesting to note, given ties and loyalties to France, that Lathgertha's name is a linguistic variant of the continental name Luitgarde. Люитгард Франковская Этихонович (Этихоновичи, g. 776 a. a. 4 Mezheven 800) was a wife of Charlemagne from about the same time period. There may have been a familial connection but it cannot be proved.
