Il fut le fils de Mamia de Gourie.
Il accorda son appui à Bagrat II d'Iméréthie, prétendant au trône de Géorgie sous le nom de Bagrat VI et à l'atabeg de Samtskhé Qvarqvaré ou Kvarkvaré III Jakéli contre Georges VIII, roi de Géorgie. En récompense, l'atabeg Qvarqvaré lui céda ses droits sur les provinces d'Adjara et du Lazistan.
1469-1483, il fut eristavi de Gourie.
Il soutint la rébellion de son parent l'eristavi d'Odishi Vameq II Dadiani de Mingrélie détériorant ses relations avec le roi Bagrat VI.
1478-1479, il refusa, tout comme l'eristavi Vameq II Dadiani, de reconnaître le successeur du roi Bagrat VI, Alexandre II d'Iméréthie et ils aidèrent son rival, le futur Constantin II de Géorgie à s'emparer de l'Iméréthie.

Son successeur fut son fils Georges Ier de Gourie.

Il fut le fils de Kakhaber II et de son épouse Anna.
1483-1491, à la mort de son père, il devint eristavi ou duc.
1491-1512, le royaume de Géorgie étant dissous par le roi Constantin II de Géorgie, il devint mtavari ou prince semi-indépendant de Gourie, vassal du royaume d'Iméréthie et il exerça la charge de Grand Maitre de la Maison (msakhurt-ukhutsesi) à la cour d'Iméréthie.
Il resta loyal au roi Alexandre II d'Iméréthie, puis à son fils le futur Bagrat III d'Iméréthie.
1509, il fut libéré par le roi Alexandre II de son obligation de payer des impôts.

1511, il perdit les provinces d'Adjara et du Lazistan au profit de Mzétchabouk Ier Jakéli, prince de Samtskhé.

1533, il combattit avec le prince Mamia III de Mingrélie ou Mamia III Dadiani contre des tribus de Zygiens et il fut capturé et son fils cadet Georges fut tué.

Il fut le fils de Mamia Ier et de son épouse Ketevan.
1533, il dut payer la rançon de son père aux Tcherkesses (Circassie) sous protectorat ottoman.
1534, il succéda à son père comme mtavari ou prince et il lutta aux côtés de son royal suzerain, le roi Bagrat III d'Iméréthie dans son combat contre les empiètements des ottomans.
1535, il fut récompensé par une partie du Samtskhé, les provinces d'Adjara et du Lazistan par le roi Bagrat III lors de l'invasion de la principauté de Samtskhé et la capture de l'atabeg Qvarqvaré ou Kvarkvaré V Jakéli.
1547, il demanda l'aide du prince Léon Ier de Mingrélie ou Levan Ier Dadiani pour contrer les armées Ottomanes qui firent le blocus de la côte de Gourie.

1564, il mourut et il fut inhumé dans le (voir en anglais, monastère de Shemokmedi).
