Mary was a tall and elegant lady with a wonderful disposition. She had to be - while raising 5 children. She graduated from Margaret Eaton College and also attended University of Toronto. She was very athletic and encouraged participation in sports in her children. She taught swimming courses prior to her marriage. During WWII, Mary and her sister Ibby were the only two females on a base in Halifax with 500 men. She plotted aircraft routes. She taught high school physical education at Glebe Collegiate prior to her 1st pregnancy. From then on she worked from the home and cottage raising her family. She had many interests which included playing bridge, curling and was a member of the St. Matthew's Church Talent Club. They put together some wonderful cookbooks. During the 1950's she and Burt were avid square dancers.
